The Medieval village of Porrona, built during the XII century B.C., belonged for five centuries to two noble families from Siena, the Tolomei and the Piccolomini until 1894 when it became property of Pietro Emilio Targes de Rochefort, a member of the French aristocracy. Today Porrona is a charming village where still live few local people. The abandoned building part of the village are now part of the private property and owners who decided to open here a 5* boutique hotel. The restoration work of Castel Porrona has been achieved with full respect to its original architectural details, preserving precious components throughout the complex and the result beautifully highlights the medieval spirit of the building, retaining its historic integrity and authenticity. The magnificent Castle, symbol of Porrona, is today part of the hotel and rises in the middle of the square, in a panoramic location over the Tuscan hills. The hotel is located within a short drive from relevant historic, cultural and touristic attractions such as Siena, Firenze, Montalcino, the hot springs of Saturnia, Maremma’s National Park and the glamorous coast of Punta Ala. Castel Porrona is the ideal destination for a sea and countryside escape.
