Casone Ugolino is an old farm that dates back to 1500 belonged to the Della Gherardesca family. It was intended for the cultivation of tobacco and its drying. In 1823 it was renovated on the occasion of the birth of Ugolino Della Gherardesca (son of the prestigious Count Guido Alberto Della Gherardesca) and was intended to welcome pilgrims who went to Castagneto Carducci. In fact, its position made it a perfect refreshment point at the beginning of the climb towards the town. It is for this reason that it was called the "Port of Land". Its recent restoration took more than ten years of work: a perfect reconstruction of the structure of the time, with materials and craftsmanship that respect the Tuscan building tradition. The structure on the first floor offers carefully restored rooms respecting the original structures and materials: terracotta, wood and iron reconstruct a very refined and harmonious environment.
