A weekend or some days more. That's all you need to find out these romantic destinations in Parma. Many castles, the magic of an enchanted village, it looks like they come from fairytale books. Have you found the right hotel in the surroundings of Parma?

Duomo and Baptistery

The Assumption Cathedral and the Baptistery adorn one that many say is one of the most beautiful squares in the Italian Middle Ages - we agree. Piazza Duomo is an intimate and cozy space, away from the hustle and bustle, a place where the beauty of art and pink Veronese marble of the Baptistery they give a touch more of poetry. In short, the right stage to start your romantic weekend.

The villages

Around Piazza Duomo you can explore the narrow alleys and medieval streets. Are the districts of Parma, the historical heart of the city where it all began. The best way to explore them is wandering aimlessly. At every turn you will encounter something unexpected, a fashion boutique, a coffee of the past or a typical trattoria. Remember that you are in Parma, in the cradle of good food: treat yourself with a break at the table. The pleasure also passes by the taste.

Parco Ducale

A step beyond the torrent Parma and you are in the Garden. This way is called the Parma Ducale Park, the green lung in the heart of the city adorned with statues and graceful temples. Wald around it hand by hand. Sit on a bench around the pond or visit the Palazzo Ducale, built in the sixteenth century to a design by Vignola (tel. 508 184 0521).

To see the stars

An ancient fortified castle caressed by the waters of the Great River. As a ceiling once made of stars - weather permitting. But the ones that glow in the sky are not the only stars of the Antica Corte Pallavicina. At the court of Massimo Spigaroli, Michelin starred chef, you can discover the culture of good food and the best Culatello you've ever tasted. A large window overlooking the Po, the candle crackling on the table and the kitchen delights. For a longer stop, the relay suites, elegant rooms with large bathtubs and ancient furnishings.

Tabiano Castello

To Tabiano it is one of the oldest castles in the province of Parma. It's minutes from Salsomaggiore Terme, it was of the Pallavicino marquis and it dates back to the eleventh century. A thousand years of history have not scratched the charm. The view is exceptional: on a clear day, you can even see the Alps. The Tabiano castle houses a unique charming inn relais. The suites are in the watchtower and in the manor house - some have antique tub in the room, tiled floors and fireplace. The Spa is in a natural cave. The two pools are in the park with an amazing panoramic view.

Torrechiara

Among the many castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza, to Torrechiara one is the most incredible and among the best preserved (tel. 0521 355255). Don’t you believe it? From Parma follow signs to Langhirano. Before the village, on a hill between the city and the mountain, stands the massive bulk of the manor. Three circles of walls, square towers, terraces overlooking the Val Parma. But the real surprise is the Golden Room, frescoed with the fifteenth-century representations of courtly love.

Like every castles, even to Torrechiara has its ghost. During full moon nights, the ghost of a beautiful Duchess wanders sleepless in the castle tower offering passionate kisses to the men who meet her.

Castello di Scipione

A romantic and rich in history atmpsphere. Two elegant suites in the quiet Scipione Castle of Marquis Pallavicino, surrounded by green hills between the provinces of Parma and Piacenza. Refined fabrics and antique furniture, elegant rooms and spacious bathrooms, a huge garden and the eighteenth-century arcades facing the picturesque medieval village of the Castello, dishes and signature in rustic and elegant environments.

Fontanellato

The first attraction of the small medieval village, less than half an hour drive from Parma, is the Rocca Sanvitale. Around the moat filled with water and the crown of porticoes of the country, recently included among the most beautiful villages in Italy. Inside, the room of Diana and Actaeon, with frescoes by Parmigianino, and the Optics Room, a system of prisms and lenses to spy on the square undetected (guided tours only, tel. 0521 829 055). Every third Sunday of the month, in the streets of the village, you can browse through the stalls of the antique market.

Rocca di Soragna

The last prince, Diofebo, still lives in the Fortress, in the center of the village (for visits, tel. 0524 597978). La Rocca Meli Lupi worth a visit, if only to admire its great Baroque rooms, precious works of art, the coats of arms and ancient frescoes. But for a passionate kiss, you should cross the threshold of the English park with the pond. Fabulous and romantic, it is what you need to impress your partner.

Colorno

From Parma follow the direction to Colorno. Twenty minutes' drive are enough to reach the Royal Palace, the monumental complex of the early eighteenth century commissioned by Duke Francesco Farnese following the example of the great courts of Europe (tel. 312 545 0521). What could be more romantic than a walk in its green? They are four kilometers of Italian and French gardens, extraordinary all year roud, but even more in spring time. In the Royal Palace, there are more than four hundred halls, courtyards and patios. The most inreresting and visited areas are the apartments of the Duke and Duchess
